Four think tanks, including Hong Kong Policy Research Institute, SD Advocates, Future@Hong Kong and Our Hong Kong Foundation co-organized the Conference on “Land and Housing Supply Debate – Challenges and Opportunities” on 29 August 2018 with over 300 participants.

Mr. Andrew Fung, Executive and Research Director of the Hong Kong Vision Project, put forth the three major questions concerning the debate on land and housing supply: How to handle the issue of distribution and justice? Whether to effectively utilize our land resources by implementing projects to ensure the realization of the multi-pronged approach to increase land supply? Whether the Chief Executive and the HKSAR Government have the vision in long-term planning and political capacity to enforce the increase of land and housing supply ? He also analyzed the controversy around the use of public-private-partnership to tap into the Private Agricultural Land Reserve in the New Territories.

Mr. Andrew Fung, Mr Stephen Wong from Our Hong Kong Foundation, Prof. LAU Chi-pang from SD Advocates and Mr. Shih Wing-ching from Future@Hong Kong/ Centaline Property Agency discussed and exchanged ideas about housing and land supply policies in Hong Kong.
